A group on the aegis of United Front and Action Against Obaseki’s Anti-AAU Ekpoma Legacy (UFAAOAEL), is currently being bittered over alleged comments by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Asue Ighodalo on Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Comrade Henry Osamudiamen and Justice Agbebo, Secretary, respectively, and made available to newsmen in Benin City, the group said that rather than questioning the obvious compromise and refusal by the Obaseki-led administration/government to release and act on several panel reports which exposed academic corruption, financial embezzlement/mismanagement, maladministration and the culprits in the University, including those of the Visitation Panel and Due-diligence, Mr. Asue Ighodalo is dwelling on unsubstantiated wide-allegations of sex-for-grade, undue graduation of students overseas and corruption against lecturers in the University for which the government should be held culpable for lack of political will to act.

The duo faulted the PDP gubernatorial candidate for a clear display of unpardonable bias in favour of the expired Special Intervention Team (SIT), accusing Mr. Asue Ighadolo of lacking courage to speak up against the atrocities of SIT and its present illegality in the University which has received public outcry and condemnation.

They said he alluded to a plan to recruit a new crop of lecturers in the University, signing his imminent plan of mass sack of lecturers in the University if he wins the gubernatorial election in the State.

They added that by his statements, Asue has brought out himself that nothing positive is in the offing for the University if PDP continues in government in Edo State.

“Asue’s utterances portend evil agenda and are at best a betrayal of his resolve to continue the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s agenda in the University which the people of Edo Central have resolved to resist in the coming gubernatorial election”, the duo said.

Recall that Mr. Asue Ighodalo had last weekend visited Esan Recreation Club at Ekpoma where he alleged to have said that sex-for-grade, undue graduation of students overseas and corruption against lecturers in the University were the major problems of the University.
