A House of Representatives aspirant for Owan federal constituency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Shedrach Udugbai, has berated the marginalisation of the constituency by successive governments.
He expressed his resentment while declaring his noble intention to contest for the seat of Owan federal constituency at the house of representatives.
Mr. Udugbai said his quest to contest the position is conceived out of the desire to change the narratives and get the nation and his people freed from the shackles of poverty.
“My aspiration to represent the Owan people at the national assembly was not born out of personal desires.
“It’s the factors and parameters of failure that has characterized the Nigerian democracy, the Nigerian government and the Nigeria people that has promoted me to step forward and challenge the status quo… in my honest attempt to nudge this nation on a path of rectitude and restitution.
“I have also carefully evaluated the political marginalization that has confronted the Owan Nation from all sides.

“The underdevelopment, political stagnation and visible poverty. These are things that I cannot stand and allow to thrive.
“This aspiration of mine and the Owan first Agenda is a child of political necessity, seeking to make meaningful, productive and reconstructive contributions to Nigerians, the Nigerian democracy and the Owan Nation.
“For too long, the people of Owan Federal Constituency have been treated as an afterthought. We have witnessed a representation that is silent when it should speak, compliant when it should challenge, and absent when development is needed.
“The result has been a constituency rich in potential but starved of opportunity—marginalized within Edo state and forgotten by government.
“This neglect ends in 2027. Today, I offer a contract based on a Three-Point Agenda. It is a plan for robust representation, relentless accountability, and targeted empowerment. It is time to redirect the course of our nation and enthrone prosperity, starting right here in Owan”.
Udugbai who listed his three points agenda as thus, representation and policy making, legislative oversight and the upliftment of the Owan Nation “From Marginalization to Modernization”, said “I will facilitate short courses and training opportunities for competent sons and daughters of Owan in institutions overseas, creating a brain-gain for our community.
“Employment at the Federal Level: I will aggressively leverage my office to ensure that qualified youths from Owan are not discriminated against but are given their fair share of federal appointments and job opportunities.
“Your competence will be your currency, and I will ensure it is spent in the right places.

“The time is now the “Owan First Agenda” is more than a campaign slogan; it is a covenant. It is a promise to fight for you in the chambers, to stand up to the executive, and to bring tangible development to our people.
“It is a promise to restore the dignity and pride of the Owan Nation. I cannot do it alone. I need your mandate, your voice, and your energy. Let us unite. Let us choose progress over stagnation. Let us choose the Owan First Agenda”, .
