Osborne Umahi, the son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has emerged victorious at the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primaries for Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Osborne is the first son of the current Minister of Works, David Umahi.

Umahi secured a total of 55 votes to emerge winner at the primaries, which were conducted in Obiozara in the local government.

The congress committee, led by Alphonsus Nwali, disqualified one of the chairmanship aspirants, Jenny Umahi, for not registering online in the ongoing membership registration exercise of the party.

Following the disqualification, Osborne Umahi emerged unopposed with 55 votes.

The primaries were monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Umahi, in his acceptance speech, said he will focus on health, agriculture, youth development and infrastructure.

“We will develop cottage agricultural centers, we will implement mechanized farming to ensure that agricultural sector of the local government is properly developed.

“We will build roads to market places, to farmlands for easy evacuation of our agricultural products.

“We will implement concrete road construction to build roads that will last more than 50 years,” he said.

He appreciated Governor Francis Nwifuru for nominating him to contest the chairmanship election, and his father and his siblings for their prayers and support in the race.
