The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Edoba Omoregie, SAN, has reassured students that they are in the right institution to pursue their academic ambitions.
Prof. Omoregie gave the assurance at the annual lecture/award ceremony of the Department of Marketing, where he was honoured with an award of excellence in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the development of the university.
The VC who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Ekenwan Campus), Prof. Buniyamin Ayinde,
encouraged students to continue adding value to the institution, noting that UNIBEN would “continue to market itself” through quality teaching, research, and innovation.
Other distinguished personalities, including popular comedian Lawrence Osarenkhoe, known as MC Casino, were also honoured with awards of excellence.
Earlier in his remarks, the Acting Head of the Department of Marketing, Dr. Samuel Osifo, described the annual event as a flagship programme that celebrates academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and exceptional achievements.
He further advocated for deeper knowledge sharing, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Delivering the lecture titled “Marketing Is Everything, Everything Is Marketing,” guest speaker Dr. Charles Ugorji highlighted that marketing revolves around value creation and the satisfaction of customers’ needs.
According to him, State authorities demonstrate effective public marketing when they harness available resources to meet the needs and aspirations of citizens.
