The United Nations Youth Delegates Programme- Nigeria (UNYDP-NG), structured as a result of the collaboration between the National Youth Council Of Nigeria and the Global Relations Foundaton remains the only legitimate platform for actualising the aspiration and participation of Nigerian youths in the UN Youth Assembly and other global processes.

The president of Global Relations Foundation, Amb Jace Owie said the clarification became necessary following attempts by one Eze Ihechukwumere of the United Nations Youth Association – Nigeria, to claim ownership and leadership of the platform.

” On 26th October, 2025, the United Nations Youth Association- Nigeria led by Eze Ihechukwumere and Global Relations Foundation led by Amb. Jace Owie initiated the launch of the United Nations Youth Delegates Programme- NG.

“The initiative aims to empower Nigerian youths by providing a platform for their participation in international diplomacy and policy-making at the United Nations.

“The collaboration between GRF and UNYA-NG encountered significant obstacles, leading to the programme’s unofficial status.

“UNYA-NG presented demands that GRF deemed unreasonable and subsequently rejected the proposal.

“A crucial point of contention was UNYA- NG’s failure to produce a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that had been agreed between both parties.

” Eze Ihechukwumere acting on behalf of UNYA-NG formally communicated their decision to officially discontinue with the initiative.

“This communication explicitly warned of legal actions should GRF continue to associate UNYA – NG with any aspect of UNYDP–NG”, Jace Owie explained in a memo to the Federal Youth Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said having officially opted out of the programme, Eze Ihechukwumere had in a recent media publications, claimed ownership and leadership of the UNYDP- NG.

He urged the relevant authorities to discountenance the false claim by Eze Ihechukwumere and his UNYA- NG as they lack legitimacy of the UNDP- NG.

Amb Jace Owie further warned that the GRF and the National Youth Council would not hesitate to initiate legal actions against Eze Ihechukwumere and the UNYA- NG, should they persist in parading themselves as part and parcel of the UNYDP-,NG.
