The leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, has finally endorsed the suspension of the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Pastor Azemhe Azena following the viral video of his alleged endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The letter which was signed by the chairman of the party in the local government, Chief Paul Omo Ogwemoh, the secretary Mr John Obeakhemhe, the assistant youth leader Mr Vice Ogiriga and some ward chairmen was made available to journalists in Benin City.
The letter said Pastor Azemhe Azena was suspended from the party due to his anti party activities as he has publicly endorsed the APC candidate in a well publicized online video in a church programme held in Auchi, Edo state.
The letter said such action has caused the party a lot of shame, ridicule and embarrassment.
The letter also said the suspended governorship candidate has so much disregard for party’s leaders and members in Etsako East local government area which he said has led to disunity in the party.
Copies of the letter were also made available to the national chairman of NNPP and South-South chairman of the party awaiting ratification by the state executive council of the party.
However, the NNPP governorship candidate, Pastor Azemhe Azena has since debunked the suspension claim and advised members of the public to disregard the notice.
