The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin Rev Sunny Akenbor, has said God has never failed to bless those He has used to reach out to the lost souls and bring them back to His father.
He gave the assurance while delivering his sermon, titled:”Oh God, Help Me”:during the church service in Benin City.
Taking his bible reading from the book of Luke 5:1-10, he said when Simon (Peter) lent his boat to Jesus, he was bountifully rewarded for it, adding that christians must learn from this so that they will be able to give their time and their all in all to God and for the advancement of His kingdom.
“On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets.
“Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
“And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
“And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word, I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking.
“They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
“For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men”, Luke 5:1-10
Akenbor added that when Jesus was involved in the Simon’s fishing expedition, there was a breakthrough and when He was not, there was a total breakdown as they have to toil all through the night without a catch.
The cleric who also referenced the book of Mark 6: 35-44, said the multitude who followed Jesus, when they were hungry, they were not allowed to leave empty handed rather, He ordered them to sit down and they were fed so much so that there were leftovers.
He urged the christian faithful to always put their trust in God and not on man because man will certainly fail them when they needed them the most but God will not.
