The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor has charged believers in Christ to always remember where God has picked them from and where they are at the moment for them to be able to appreciate Him better.

He gave the charge while speaking on the topic:”Remember your yesterday for today’s thanksgiving” during the Sunday church service in Benin City.

Taking his bible reading from Psalm 129:1-2, Rev. Akenbor said despite the evil agenda against them, God in His infinite mercy did not allow them to come through instead, they (believers) keep prospering in their own endeavours.

Akenbor said their being alive is not because they pray too much or they are very good at taking precautionary measures, noting that, the so-called prayer machines are no more but God’s mercy has kept them.

“They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,” let Israel say;
“they have greatly oppressed me from my youth but they have not gained the victory over me”, Psalm 129:1-2

Akenbor added that we must be grateful for the gift of life and considering where He picked us from, stressing that, it only takes someone who acknowledges his yesterday, how life has dealt a very wicked blow at him and how God has allowed fortune to smile on him that can really appreciate God.

Akenbor said with all sincerity of heart and purpose, no one can categorically say that God has not shown him kindness since the inception of the year till this present time.

Akenbor said for the avoidance of doubt, there were those who made plans and itemized what they were going to do within a given period of time but they are no more but as for them, they are still alive, hale and healthy.

He said God is never pleased with an ingrate rather He frowns at them. Therefore, believers should develop the act of gratitude as that is the only way they can please Him and have an abundant blessings from Him.

The clergyman said that despite the marvelous things God did for the children of Israelites, they never showed gratitude and God was not pleased with them.

“Thus the children of Israel did not remember the Lord their God, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side, nor did they show kindness to the house of Jerubbaal (Gideon) in accordance with the good he had done for Israel”, Judges 8:35.

While encouraging christian faithful who are believing God for one miracle or the other never to give up but sticking to His unchanging words, said there is always hope for the living for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

“Anyone who is among the living has hope[b]—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward, and even their name is forgotten.

“Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun”, Ecclesiastes 9:4-6.

The general overseer and vision bearer of the church further prayed for God’s blessings upon the members of the church, peace, progress and stability in the country as the country battles with insecurity.
