The general overseer and founder of God’s Greater Grace General Assembly Intl Incorporated, Benin, Rev Sunny Akenbor, has urged believers to always deal with the root cause of problem rather than its symptom.
He gave the task during the Sunday church service in Benin City.
Rev. Akenbor said the reasons some spiritual problems remained unsolved is because some christians have neglected the sources of their problems and are busy addressing the surface/symptom.
Akenbor said solutions to some problems could be just seeking the forgiveness of someone you may have offended while some require deep thinking to find out if it could be the atrocities of ones forebears that are now haunting the present.
“Our fathers have sinned, and are no more; and we have borne their iniquities”, Lamentations 5:7
Akenbor further said the reasons doctors always call for diagnoses before carrying out treatment on any of their patients is to be able to know the root cause of the ailment they are about handling with the so purpose of applying the right medications.
He said such is also applicable to the things of the spirit
“The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”
“Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.
“Then he went out to the spring (source ) and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.
“And the water has remained pure to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken”, 2 Kings 2:19-22.
He reiterated that most problems besetting man today are foundational which is also referred to as source adding that, the book of Psalms 11:3 has made it explicitly clear by asking when the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
He said the bible also provided a solution to a faulty foundation by asking those with such a faulty foundation to turn to God who is able to right the wrongs of anyone who honestly desires a change and a better life.
